The Beginning
Lillian and Trevor met at St. Matthew Catholic School in San Mateo, California, where they went to school together from kindergarten to eighth grade. Throughout the years, they grew up alongside one another in the classroom, learning cursive, playing with the class gecko, and running around on the playground during recess. Lillian and Trevor sat at the same table in the second grade, spending the entire year talking and becoming friends.
August 2006
Middle School
They were elected to be co-ecology commissioners on the student council, where Lillian's older brother Danny led all of their meetings as the student body president. To prepare for the new school year, the student council spent a summer day together at Central Park. There were many trust exercises, and to this day, Trevor still does trust falls for Lillian that can strike at any moment. Luckily, she always catches him.
During the seventh grade, is when Lillian realized that Trevor was more than just a friend. She adored his sweet personality and was obsessed with his long surfer boy hair. She and her best friend gave him the codename Beach Boy, aka bb. Lillian always prayed that Trevor would ask her to slow dance at the middle school dances. Her wishes came true because Trevor would always ask her for a dance. She even kept a diary to relive those magical nights dancing with her first love.
At sleepovers, Lillian would elaborately detail every moment spent with Trevor, like how she would twirl her fingers in his hair while dancing, or how they'd go extra slow on their recycling duties so they could sneak in extra time together.
On the bus ride to Caritas Creek, their week-long school trip in eighth grade, Trevor asked Lillian to sit next to him so he could show off his new iPod and show her a cool new artist named Taylor Swift. They shared headphones, listening to her new song, Teardrops on My Guitar. (Seventeen years later, they attended Taylor Swift's sold-out Eras tour at Levi's Stadium.)
Middle school ended with a trip to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, where they spent the whole day together on rides and playing on the beach. Lillian first saw Trevor in his natural bb habitat and dreamed that one day he would propose to her on a beach.

April 2019
Palo Alto Reunion
After several years of not seeing one another, Trevor reached out to Lillian, wanting to catch up about her recent travels to Thailand and Beijing. After a brief exchange, they were set to meet on Thursday, April 11th, 2019 in Palo Alto. Trevor took the train from the city and Lillian drove from Menlo Park. Trevor got there a little bit early and Lillian got there fashionably late. Some things never change.
In the back corner, Trevor sat with two glasses of Pinot Noir (now Lillian's favorite). They had so much to catch up on and couldn't stop talking, moving their evening from the wine room, to NOLA, and to then sharing pizza at an Italian restaurant. They closed down the place, not wanting the evening to end. A few days later, Trevor texted Lillian, "I'd love to take you out on a date in San Francisco."
She immediately texted her Mom, where they both were stunned at Trevor's request for an official date - so romantic! Lillian's middle school self was freaking out about finally being asked out on a date from the first boy she ever loved. She shared this life-changing news with all her friends who shared in her excitement.

The Official First Date
Lillian drove to San Francisco Friday after work to meet with Trevor for their first date. He even had a parking spot in his garage ready to ease her stress.
Upon arrival, Trevor gave Lillian a tour of his condo in the Dogpatch that he shared with his two coworkers turned lifelong friends. Trevor shared with Lillian that he had three different plans and dinner reservations in the city. He wanted her to pick the one that sounded the most fun to her.
Lillian knew this was unlike anyone or anything. Underneath kitchen lights, they shared their first kiss and then were off to explore the city at a rooftop restaurant nearby. The start of their forever dates.

The Proposal
After Lillian received good news of a new job, Trevor and Lillian booked an impromptu trip to their favorite place on earth, Maui, Hawaii. Within a few days, they were on an airplane where Trevor secretly had a ring in his jacket pocket.
A few days into the trip, Trevor told Lillian he had a fun day planned for them. The day started off with breakfast, then a drive to Whaler's Village to shop for what Lillian didn't know were their proposal outfits. The salesman helping them at Tommy Bahama even said, “Are you two getting married?” Lillian laughed and said, “No, we're just having a special date night!”
Next on the itinerary was a couple's massage at Spa Montage in Kapalua Bay, where Trevor and Lillian enjoyed a rejuvenating massage together. They were enjoying the spa so much that they almost missed the perfectly mapped out day Trevor had planned. While Lillian was sitting by the pool reading her Colleen Hoover book, Trevor checked his watch and said, "Lil, do you think you can get ready in 20 minutes? We have to catch the sunset!”
Lillian suggested watching the sunset from their balcony instead, but Trevor promised that going out would be worth the rush. Thankfully, they made it to a private beach just in time to catch the most beautiful sunset they'd remember forever.
